Volunteer/Employment

Calling All Volunteers!
The museum relies on the help of its volunteers to give our visitors a wonderful experience while at the museum. Volunteer opportunities include working both with visitors and helping behind the scenes. We have many different volunteer positions for all different interests and talents.
Volunteers are needed to staff the gift shops and admissions desks, greet visitors, assist with mailings, set up programs, and assist with a variety of other projects.
Remember, when Tom got the boys to whitewash for him, he discoverd a great principle: "Work consists of whatever a body is obliged to do. Play consists of whatever a body is not obliged to do." You're not obliged to come lend a hand, but we hope you do!
All of the opportunities help improve the quality of our museum. We would love to have you be a part of the museum's vibrant volunteer program! Please call us at 573-221-9010 ext. 404 for more information or just stop by.
Employment Opportunities
The Mark Twain Museum hires part-time seasonal employees each year as sales clerks for the three gift shops as well as admission clerks for the two admission desks. Occasionally, we also hire professional staff. All current job openings will be posted on this site.
Current Job Openings
We are currently looking for a tech savy volunteer to assist with basic computer issues, website assistance, and videography (interviewing visitors to the museum to upload to YouTube). Do you fit this description? Call today!
FRIENDS OF THE MARK TWAIN MUSEUM
Groundfloor opportunity to make a difference
The executive director is seeking to establish an auxiliary organization of volunteers, "Friends of the Mark Twain Museum," who are creative in spirit, energetic in nature, and enthusiastic about preserving the legacy of Mark Twain here in Hannibal.
Many museums are supported by such organizations, which typically organize fundraising events, schedule programs, and collaborate with the museum in a variety of ways designed to further its mission. The Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum would greatly benefit from such an organization. If such a project interests you, please contact Dr. Cindy Lovell at the museum to share your ideas. We would love to hear from you!
VOLUNTEERS ARE OUR HEROES!
