Mark Twain Museum to hold Business After Hours Thursday

The Mark Twain Museum, in conjunction with the Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to announce its first Business After Hours event to be held Thursday, June 19 from 5-7 p.m. at the Mark Twain Museum Gallery at 120 North Main.

The event will feature the Mark Twain Museum as a rental facility for weddings, showers, meetings and parties. Each room has its own unique qualities and can be adapted for most any event. The facilities are technology friendly and one room even has video display capabilities in addition to surround sound stereo.

On May 29, the Museum hosted the wedding of David and Cindy DeProspero. DeProspero is the former director of the James E. Cary Cancer Center.

“The Museum lent its charm and elegance to an intimate wedding,” said Terri Patterson, guest of the couple. “I can’t imagine a more perfect setting for a small ceremony.”

In addition to the venues on display, many local businesses will highlight their products. Caterers include: Paddlewheel Popcorn & Candy Company, LulaBelle’s, The Abby Rose, Breadeaux Pizza, Evan Essence Bistro, TJ’s Supper Club, Garth Mansion and Ole Planter’s. Beverages provided by: Indian Creek Winery, Golden Eagle Distributing and Mark Twain Distribution. Floral Arts will be provided by Griffin’s Flowers. Sugar Artists Mary Riley, Frances Gimore and Judy Smith will have cakes on display.

During the event the Mark Twain Museum Gallery Gift shop will offer a 25% discount on all regularly priced merchandise.

“The gift shop not only carries Mark Twain merchandise,” says Dena Ellis, Mark Twain Museum Gift Shop Manager. “We also carry an Americana decor line, handmade jewelry, Huckleberry products produced solely for the Museum and Ransom + Scout purses. Each purse and accessory has its own unique story and personality.”

“The purpose of the event is to introduce the Mark Twain Museum as a place to not only learn about stories, but to start your own,” says Ryan Murray, Marketing & Community Relations Manager and coordinator of the event. “Imagine telling your grandkids you were married in the Mark Twain Museum, now that’s a story.”
