Twain CD Entered in Multiple Grammy Categories

Mark Twain: Words & Music, the double-CD produced by Grammy award-winner Carl Jackson as a benefit for the Mark Twain Museum, has been entered in multiple categories for the upcoming Grammy Awards. Voting members decide which entries become actual nominations, which will be announced on November 30.The CD, which is on the Mailboat Records label, is entered in the General field in the categories of Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year.
In the Country field, several songs are entered in the Best Country Solo Performance category, as well as in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Country Song.
In the Pop field, Sheryl Crow is entered in the Best Pop Solo Performance.
In the American Roots field, the CD is entered in the Best Americana Album category.
In the Production Non-Classical field, Mark Twain: Words & Music is entered in the categories of Best Engineered Album and Producer of the Year.
Sales have been brisk on Amazon.com with the CD rising to #1 in Bluegrass, #1 in Spoken Word, #4 in Miscellaneous, #6 in Country Music, #28 in Pop, and #30 in Music (overall) this past weekend.
"We're hopeful but not counting any unhatched chicks," said Cindy Lovell, museum director. "The fact that the Grammy nominations will be announced on Sam Clemens's birthday on November 30th feels like a good sign, but we'll just have to wait and see."
The 54th Annual Grammy Awards will be announced February 12, 2012 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Mark Twain: Words & Music includes the voices of Jimmy Buffett (as Huck Finn), Garrison Keillor (as narrator), Clint Eastwood (as Twain), Angela Lovell (as Susy Clemens), and songs by Emmylou Harris, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Rhonda Vincent, Bradley Walker, Carl Jackson, The Church Sisters, Sheryl Crow, Brad Paisley, Marty Raybon, Val Storey, Vince Gill, Joe Diffie, and Ricky Skaggs. It is available at the Mark Twain Museum and other venues.
