Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit New Harmonies: American Roots Music (LAST CALL!)

The Mark Twain Museum is hosting a traveling exhibit “New Harmonies: American Roots Music” in the Museum Gallery auditorium (120 North Main Street). The exhibit is open from 9 to 6 daily through June 12.

Hannibal residents always receive free admission at the museum. Anyone coming to the Museum Gallery merely has to state they are here for the music exhibit and there will be no charge.

This exhibit examines the many forms of music that originated in the United States, starting with sacred and spiritual music through blues to western music and immigrant music. Samples of 24 different styles of music can be heard at a special listening station.

Accompanying the Smithsonian exhibit is an exhibit of Hannibal music featuring people and groups from Hannibal’s history.

Come share in this opportunity to learn more about our musical heritage.

Reminder that the Museum’s “Music Under the Stars” series begins this evening and will run every Thursday evening from 7 to 9 on the Museum Mall on Hill Street. Each week food will be available being grilled in the museum garden and beverages available from The Main Street Wine Stop. Come and have your evening meal while enjoying the free concert.
