The Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum is offering a unique opportunity for youngsters in grades 4, 5 and 6 to experience “A Night at the Museum” sleepover. Children will be treated to a behind the scenes tour of the Museum that includes the cave exhibit, stagecoach and storytelling on Huck and Jim’s raft followed by a pizza party and special viewing of the famous 1938 movie, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Cost is $10, and students are invited by grade level.
The fourth graders will launch the program on Friday, March 13; fifth grade is Friday, April 3, and sixth grade is Friday, May 1. Museum staff will be on hand to supervise the events. Children are encouraged to arrive in their pajamas and bring a sleeping bag and pillow. Reservations are required, and space is limited to the first twenty students who sign up. Forms are being distributed to fourth graders at area schools.
“I think Sam Clemens would have signed up for this program,” interim director Dr. Cindy Lovell said. “We’re excited about sharing Mark Twain’s story with area children and promise a fun time. We’re even encouraging parents to join us for the tour that evening. We really want to focus more on families coming in and sharing the Museum experience.”
Parents may contact the Museum at 573-221-9010 for more information.
