Description

Join us at 12:00 noon in the Boyhood Home Garden on April 21 to mark the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Mark Twain's death.  Hannibal ambassadors "Tom" and "Becky" will join Museum staff and other guests to bury a time capsule for the benefit of future generations.  Executive director Dr. Cindy Lovell will give a brief presentation about the legacy of Mark Twain and share the contents of the time capsule.

Other events planned for the ceremony include remarks by dignitaries, the unveiling of a webcam donated by EarthCam.com that is mounted on the Becky Thatcher House and shows the Boyhood Home and mall area, and the unveiling of new exhibits in the Huckleberry Finn House.  We invite everyone to come and honor the memory of our hometown boy, Samuel Langhorne Clemens. If you have not yet "signed the fence" by making your donation to the "10 by 10" endowment campaign, please consider doing so that day.

At this time we are still considering what items to include in the time capsule.  We welcome your ideas and suggestions.  Please call Ryan Murray at 573-221-9010, ext. 404.
